Double birth news from Kraansvlak

Wednesday May 30th, the first bison calf of this year was spotted by a ranger and two researchers during a routine round in Kraansvlak, part of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland. It is the 30th calf that has been born in Kraansvlak since 2009.

BISON HAIR USED AS BEDDING IN BIRD NESTS

Since 2013 in breeding season, bird nests in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park are being analysed by PWN. Since 2016, also nest material is studied to gain additional insight. The fur of different species of herbivores make up for a good bedding for the nests.
